Anxiety and The Brain

Anxiety and The Brain

Just about every child who comes to see me for brain issues – seizures, autism, ADD/ADHD, SPD, OCD/ODD, has an anxiety component to their challenges. Now, this child could be diagnosed with 8 different things, but it is essentially all the same. It’s a brain issue. And brain issues can be fixed.

Is it a chemical imbalance? That’s common diagnosis, but I challenge everyone to ask WHY? What controls the hormones, the chemicals? Our brain! And Chiropractic is all about the brain.

Studies have shown that severe or long-lasting stress can change the way nerve cells within these circuits transmit information from one region of the brain to another. Other studies have shown that people with certain anxiety disorders have changes in certain brain structures that control memories linked with strong emotions.

So when kids with anxiety present in our office their stories are similar.  These kids don’t want to be in public, they are nervous, lack eye contact, don’t like loud noises, are tense, anxious and may have panic attacks. Anxiety is a neck problem. This child is stuck in the fight or flight system.

Remember my message: THE BRAIN CAN CHANGE. The nervous system consists of the brain, spinal cord and nerves that control every part of who we are – we live our life through the nervous system.
