I had a traumatic labor and delivery with an epidural gone wrong 6 weeks ago. A nerve was damaged at the epidural site and caused my left leg and foot to be numb, non-functional, and excruciatingly painful. I was unable to walk and carry my newborn for the first 3 weeks after she was born because I had to brace myself against the walls to keep myself from tripping and falling. My husband had to take care of all of her needs day and night. I was on 3 different types of pain medications taking the maximum doses at the maximum frequency, but was getting little relief. I could not sleep due to the severe discomfort as well. My medical doctor had submitted referrals to a neurologist and physical therapy. Neurology did not have openings until 13 weeks post-delivery and physical therapy was 2+ weeks out as well. I know Dr. M on a personal level and she suggested getting evaluated and try chiropractic treatments for my nerve injury, and what a difference! I have only been going for the past few weeks, but am now able to walk on my own, carry my child, and am off of 2 of the 3 pain medications so far. I still have a significant amount of healing to go, but am on the road to recovery! Thank you for helping me enjoy being a new mother!
